Romulus community Schools will host the community Wednesday evening for district tour as well as a look at what students can expect when they return this fall.

EVENT DETAILS

4-6 p.m District tour with bus shuttle between buildings (starting at RHS), special focus on META24Labs, new RMS teaming program, after school activities, etc.

6:00 RHS Auditorium presentation by Interim Superintendent Weatherspoon, with points of pride, intros to new leadership, and more.

6:30 RHS Hot dogs and ice cream under the tent!

BACKGROUND

Since January of this year, the district has made a series of historic investments, updating and upgrading every aspect of the community school system. RCS hosted listening sessions around the community starting in the spring, and used that feedback to address challenges throughout the system.

New for this year:

META24 labs ready to open every building. This exciting, hands-on program is only available in two other school districts in Michigan. It’s about learning core education subjects through an entrepreneurial lens. Kids will develop a range of actual products, write marketing plans, package and ultimately sell the things they produce. This requires reading, math, chemistry, English, and other core skills. These labs will be open in every building in the district and are expected to will fill up quickly!
New curriculum for K-5, specifically designed to promote early reading.
Free latchkey services for grades K-8
Middle school sports. In fact, sports in general are back, under the direction of our new Director of K-12 Athletics, Darren Kecskes. Students and staff will be admitted free to all home games, and the district is offering a family pass to encourage our community to get out and support our teams. Pool. RCS will use its world-class aquatic center to make sure Romulus kids learn to swim as part of physical education, and the goal for this year is to find ways to make the pool more available for community use.
